Thankful

We went back to Auburn for Thanksgiving this year and spent it with my mom and nieces. I left June of 1999 and haven’t been back since. I’ve always wanted to go back but never did. Am I ever glad that we had the opportunity to go back this past week and re-discover Auburn, some of which I remember, a lot of which I had forgotten! The extent that Auburn has changed, both on campus and off campus, is simply incomprehensible to write about. I can’t believe how things have exploded down there, wow! My sister was able to drive down and visited us too and it was so much fun. It was great spending time with family and re-exploring where we spent 6 years of our lives.

I am up two pounds this weight in. We traveled over 800 miles yesterday and stayed in the car for over 14 hours. I am sure that some of the weight is water weight but I weighed this morning regardless. I am not upset or sad that the scale is up. We made sure that we walked and was active every single day. We took Hunter to the local dog park every single morning, walked downtown Auburn, walked the campus of Auburn, went to the Arb and went to Chewacla. Instead of having wings and chicken fingers at Zaxby’s, one of the places to eat down South that hasn’t come up this way yet, I had a nice salad and left the bread. We ate at some of our favorite places but I didn’t overdo it. My mom had some loose candy around and I would eat one piece here and there, probably would just leave the candy alone if I had to do it again, but that is life. You live and learn and plan on how to do things differently. Thanksgiving day was just fine, I ate a normal plate and just had a bite or two of desserts and I was fine.

The most encouraging thing was that I went to a few doctor’s appointments last Friday for check ups. I passed with flying colors! My doctor says that I am doing great and to keep up the hard work. I am on a few low dosage meds because of numbers were starting to climb but my primary doctor says that I should be off all of my meds in less than 6 months with the progress that I’m making! Yeah! I don’t think that I could hear anything more motivating than that.

We’ll see how the first week of December treats me. I will report back next week.
